My oldest is enrolled in a kinder curriculum at the school he’s been at pre-K for the past two years. I love his little school and believe his teachers have done so much to inspire his mind and heart towards learning. He’s grown in several areas of his young life.
There is a long list of reasons why we decided to put him in this class in particular. Near way the bottom of that list was, “Because his mother is not yet ready to send him to a big school.”
Now the new school year is upon us and that very same reason–once ranked 99–is now right up there at the top. It’s selfish and controlling, but it’s true.
I’m not ready for him to go. I’m not ready for him to grow up.
Look at how little he was. Now he is big.
I may not ready, but he’s ready and it’s happening. And that’s why kindergarten is hard for moms.
Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.” -Proverbs 22:6
